Frequently Asked Questions

General product questions

Which type of slow juicer should I choose?
How is the Kuvings slow juicer different from other slow juicers on the market?

For over 40 years, Kuvings has been creating appliances for healthy living. We were the first juicer company to introduce the wide-mouth feeding tube, which allows for juicing fruits and vegetables without pre-cutting. This patented wide-mouth design reduces preparation time for quick and easy juicing. We also manufacture our own products, so we have a deep understanding of how we design and build our machines. Our juicers are versatile—you can make juices, smoothies, sorbets & frozen desserts, and instant nut milks!

Does the Kuvings slow juicer cold press?

None of our slow juicers generate heat, which is why they are considered cold press juicers. They do not have a hydraulic press like a traditional cold press juicer, but instead use a heavy screw to gently crush and squeeze the ingredients without generating heat. This is the most compact and affordable way to make cold pressed juice at home.

Why is Kuvings product called masticating juicer?

“Masticate” means “to chew,” and that’s essentially how our slow juicers process ingredients. Slow juicers crush and squeeze ingredients to extract juice, similar to how we chew food. This is in contrast to centrifugal juicers, which use rotating blades to crush ingredients. Centrifugal juicers create heat and air, which can destroy the nutritional properties of the juice. Slow juicers retain the maximum amount of nutrients.

Does juicing fruits and vegetables remove the fiber?

There are two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. Fruit and vegetable juices contain soluble fiber, which helps lower cholesterol, control blood sugar, and more. The pulp contains insoluble fiber, which adds bulk to your stool. A balanced diet contains both types of fiber, but juicing is a great way to get a large amount of soluble fiber without filling your stomach with insoluble fiber.

Does the Kuvings slow juicer come with recipes?

All Kuvings slow juicers for home use come with a recipe book or e-recipe book.

Is the Kuvings slow juicer noisy?

Slow juicers are also known as “silent juicers” because the motor rotates more slowly, making less noise than traditional high-speed juicers. Of course, our juicers are not completely silent, but they are much quieter than high-speed juicers and blenders.

How to use the product

How to clean the entire Kuvings slow juicer?
Juice leaks from the juice outlet during juicing.

Juice may leak out if the juice container is not installed properly. Please make sure the juice container is placed in the correct position.

The safety handle lock will not lock.

Check that the parts are properly assembled before locking the handle. The parts will be installed correctly as shown in the owner's manual. Do not attempt to lock the handle if the parts are not aligned.

The pulp of the juice is still too watery.

When juicing, combine low-fiber ingredients (like carrots) with high-fiber foods (like kale) to reduce the moisture content of the pulp and increase the amount of juice.

The amount of juice is too little.

All ingredients are different, and freshness often determines how much juice they yield. To extract more juice from frozen produce, soak them in fresh water. When juicing, combine low-fiber foods (like carrots) with high-fiber foods (like kale) to reduce the moisture in the pulp and increase the juice yield. Check that the silicone gasket is installed properly. Also, cut hard ingredients into appropriate sizes.

Kuvings slow juicer vibrates excessively.

Stop the slow juicer and reassemble the juicer properly. In particular, make sure the juicer screen is properly installed and that no part of the juicer is damaged.

Ingredients

Can I make nut milk with the Kuvings slow juicer?

Yes, you can make most nut milks with all of our slow juicers. Soak the nuts overnight. Process the nuts in the juicer with 1 part soaked nuts and 1 part water. You can make milk with almonds, soy, cashews and rolled oats using this method.

Can I make oat milk with the Kuvings slow juicer?

Yes, but make sure to use rolled oats. Check out our creamy and nutritious Oat Milk recipe and video for instructions!

Can the Kuvings slow juicer juice fruits and vegetables with seeds?

Soft seeds—like those found in apples, oranges, melons, and lemons—can be juiced safely. Hard seeds and pits—like those found in cherries, peaches, and plums—can damage the juicer and must be discarded. If you're making a nut milk, such as pumpkin seed milk, you'll need to soak the seeds overnight before juicing.

If I juice a whole apple, will I get cyanide poisoning from the seeds?

No. You would need to grind up very finely and eat more than 200 apple seeds to get cyanide poisoning. Furthermore, the seeds would be expelled along with the pulp.

Can I juice citrus with the peel on? Lemons and limes can be juiced with the peel. You can juice oranges with the peel on, but the peel is bitter. If you regularly juice citrus, check out our citrus squeezer attachment designed specifically for citrus juicing.

What should I do with the pulp of the juice?

There are so many great ways to reuse juice pulp. You can make veggie burgers, crackers, dog treats, bread, muffins, and more.
